Newtone Music School was founded in 2008 by Wynand van Reenen and at that time only offered guitar lessons. Since then we have grown substantially and now offer acoustic guitar, electric guitar, electric bass, ukulele, piano, keyboard and drum lessons for young and old. 

We have learned that the vast majority of students are looking for some form of exposure to an instrument and don’t want to become professional musicians. We are happy to oblige by offering fun and “low pressure” lessons. We do however, also cater for the more serious learners and everyone in between – right up to our aspiring future stars!

We use the Rocksckool Syllabus to train the more serious students. Rockschool is internationally accredited and hands down the best we could find on this planet! Both York High and Outeniqua Hoërskool in George accept Rockschool as a practical syllabus for their learners who take music as a subject.  Our premises are also the approved Rockschool Exam center where we host Rockschool exams once a year.

This year, 2020, we have added piano and keyboard to the lessons offered and we are really excited about this. We aspire to take on more instruments like banjo and vocals in the near future.
